ToYAC is a partnership project funded under the LLP-GRUNDTVIG programme.
The ToYAC project is focused on the development of strategies and services for young and adult carers (YAC).
YAC are a vulnerable social group that may have limited opportunities, horizons and aspirations. Because of their care-giving responsibilities, many miss school, do not obtain qualifications and – for this reason – are at high risk of being excluded from the labour market. On the other hand, it has been shown that caring develops many skills in children and young adults, including knowledge, understanding, a sense of responsibility and maturity as well as a range of life, social and care-related skills.
Supporting YACs to document their existing skills and to acquire and enhance other skills would help prevent the risk of exclusion, particularly from the labour market.
